South Bronx will showcase the potential of the South Bronx and its youth by providing a unique space where students, startups, and community members come together to learn from and inspire one another.


Majora Carter, Co-Founder

Majora is social entrepreneur who has pioneered forward-thinking community development projects in her native South Bronx, and has been involved in promoting similar change in underserved neighborhoods across the country. She is a MacArthur "Genius" Award recipient, and a Peabody Award winning broadcaster.

Lyel Resner, Co-Founder

After a stint on Wall Street, Lyel has gone full-speed at his dual loves for education and tech and hasn't looked back.

Lyel is an Adjunct Professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he teaches a class on Social Impact. He received a Masters from NYU as a Reynolds Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship, and holds degrees in Physics and Political Science from MIT, where he was a Burchard Humanities Scholar.

He enjoys surfing, guava soda, and air-drumming on the subway.

Jon Santiago, Co-Founder

Jon began his career setting up a FabLab in the South Bronx, and designing innovative programming in digital fabrication, 3D printing, and robotics. He is the founder of hTink - a company that brings ‘Maker’ programs to dozens of organizations across the metropolitan area. Jon is an Adjunct Professor at NYU-POLY, and holds a degree in Mathematics from MIT.
